Medicos Prepare for $120M North Star Medical Research Project on Gold Coast

After two years of meticulous planning, Queensland developer Trilogy is set to commence construction on a $120 million medical research facility within the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct. This project, aimed at advancing medical research in the state, marks a significant investment in the region’s healthcare infrastructure.

Trilogy, a partnership established in 2021 by Vincent Yu and Shawn Wang, owners of medical tourism firm QLM Health Management, has collaborated with nephrologist Dr. Alan Parnham to bring the North Star Medical Centre of Excellence to life. The 10-level facility will be anchored by the Gold Coast Transitional Care Centre (GCTCC), chaired by Dr. Parnham, a long-time specialist at Gold Coast Private Hospital.

In addition to state-of-the-art research and medical services, the North Star Medical Centre will feature accommodation facilities with 80 to 120 beds. These will serve as transitional care spaces and emergency lodgings for healthcare professionals, managed in partnership with a major hotel operator. This initiative is expected to greatly enhance patient care outcomes by providing essential temporary healthcare solutions.

The North Star facility is poised to join other renowned research institutions within the precinct, such as Griffith University’s Institute for Glycomics and the Menzies Health Institute Queensland. According to GCTCC, the centre will significantly elevate the region’s medical research capabilities, fostering a collaborative environment for healthcare innovation.

Dr. Parnham highlighted the project’s importance, stating, “The North Star Medical Centre of Excellence represents a pivotal investment in our healthcare infrastructure. We are committed to creating a supportive environment where medical professionals can thrive.”

Construction is set to begin next year, with Gold Coast-based MG Group Project Management overseeing the project. The facility is designed to meet the highest standards of healthcare delivery, ensuring a modern and efficient environment for both medical services and research activities.
