Enakl, a mobility startup based in Morocco, has raised $1.4 million in a pre-Seed investment round headed by Catalyst Fund, with 15 business angels, Renew Capital, Digital Africa, and Station F also participating. Enakl, an urban mobility firm founded in 2023 by Samir Bennani and Charles Pommarede, and later joined by Ahmed Omrane, is committed to offering sustainable, group transportation options that are suited for developing areas. With the help of the money, Enakl will be able to reach a wider audience, improve its technology, and use AI to optimize routes while also increasing its influence in Casablanca.
Enakl, a Moroccan and French urban mobility startup, is working to address one of Africa’s most pressing problems: offering smart, secure, and environmentally friendly group transportation options for everyday journeys. Enakl, which was founded in September 2023 in Casablanca by seasoned businessmen Samir Bennani and Charles Pommarede, and later joined by Ahmed Omrane as associate CTO, intends to revolutionize millions of workers’ daily commutes by providing a dependable and easily accessible shared transit platform that lowers traffic and carbon emissions.
The $1.4 million pre-seed fundraising round, which was led by Catalyst Fund and included Renew Capital, Digital Africa, Station F, and 15 business angels, supports Enakl’s approach, which uses technology to sustainably solve the requirements of urban commuters.
Maxime Bayen, an operating partner at Catalyst Fund, stated, “We invested in Enakl because they’re transforming urban transit in Africa with a scalable, green solution.” “Enakl tackles the issues of urbanization while improving accessibility by lowering pollution and congestion through tech-driven, shared transportation. Enakl’s approach sets the standard for inclusive, sustainable mobility in African cities in a world that is concerned about climate change.
Renew Capital supported this sentiment, saying, “We strongly believe that the collective transportation solutions developed by Enakl are a key to solving these challenges. We recognize the problem Enakl is trying to solve in many of the cities we work in across Africa.” Adam Abate, CEO of Renew Capital, stated, “We are thrilled to accompany the Enakl team on their journey, as they have shown significant insights, clear strategic thinking, and strong execution capacity.”
With an emphasis on the everyday journey from home to work, Enakl works with businesses and regional transportation providers to guarantee accessibility and affordability. This concept helps firms lower their carbon footprint and improve employee happiness while also making commuting easier for employees.
